Unconditional Love - Part 2
Though his profile was not open for public viewing, part of a message could be seen. Within the partial message was the URL to a blog. Trusting it to be his personal blog, Cathy typed in the URL and hit the ‘Enter’ key. While the page was being loaded, she kept her fingers crossed, hoping that it would not be one of those where a password was needed. Imagined the excitement she felt when she successfully gained access to his blog.
Pierre Kwan aka PK. Finally she had a name to the mysterious guy whose voice had hypnotised her. She couldn’t wait to explore his blog so as to get to know her ‘Prince Charming’ better – his likes and dislikes, his favourite hangouts and more importantly, what had been happening in his life. Skimming through his archive, she read of his recent break-up and how he felt like a loser. Though he was grateful to those around him for cheering him up, he felt that none of them truly understand the pain within him. They had always perceived him as someone who wouldn’t have problem getting new ‘chicks’. While that was true to a certain extent, he claimed that he was no flirt and had always taken each and every of his relationship seriously.
As she browsed on, Cathy couldn’t help but wondered what his true personality was. She was, thus, curious to find out how things would unfold for him and decided to bookmark the page to keep herself updated. Soon, she became an avid reader of Pierre ’s daily entry and it became so much a part of her routine that she found herself unable to sleep in peace without checking out his blog first.
One evening, while reading Pierre ’s latest entry, Cathy realised that he had had a bad day. He wrote about his chance encounter with his ex. He was on his way home from his choir practice when he ran into his ex with her new boyfriend in the train. They didn’t notice him as they were too engrossed in their own world, neither was he keen to let them know of his presence. But he couldn’t help taking a peep at the guy whose voice sounded familiar. Much to his horror, he recognised him to be his buddy from his kayaking club. He had actually introduced her to him when she came to watch them train. Recalling how they would look at each other intimately whenever they met, he realised then that he must have been a fool not to know what had been happening behind his back. The truth for his break-up was so overwhelming that he alighted at the very next station, well before his destination. He took a long walk home, unable to comprehend what had happened; wondering what he had done wrong to deserve such a treatment from his good pal – one of those who had asked him to take things easy. What a hypocrite!
Cathy felt so sorry for him that she had a sudden urge to do something to help ease his emotional pain. Though she had never experienced a break-up, she had witnessed enough of her friends’ failure in their BGR to understand his misery. But what could she do? Then, she saw his tagboard and that gave her an idea. Not wanting to reveal her real name, she used the tag name ‘passer-by’. Other than empathising with his perturbation, she included some words of encouragement.
The next evening, while checking on his mood, Cathy was surprised to see that Pierre had responded positively to her tag. Not only had he expressed his appreciation, he had also sought to befriend the anonymous kind-hearted soul. Unable to contain her elation, Cathy acceded to his request. Though the response time was much slower than through SMS or MSN , they found it innovatory to initiate their unique relationship through the tagboard.
